Press Releases:
GAMA
Is the First ADR Directory to Draw Straws
Conyers, Georgia, December 16, 2003. The Global Arbitration Mediation
Association, Inc. (GAMA) is pleased to announce that it is the first
alternative dispute resolution (ADR) organization to permit disputants
to “draw straws” to resolve many of the administrative issues
frequently standing in the way of conflict resolution. Using the You Draw Straws™
form located on the GAMA site in its Mediation.com and Arbitration.com
Directories, disputants can input multiple variables such as neutral
choice and meeting location, time and place. The last participant’s
selections will activate the site to “draw straws” and all
disputants and the selected ADR neutral will be notified by e-mail concerning
the system’s final selections. GAMA's President, TK Read, said
the following regarding GAMA’s decision to allow site visitors
to utilize You Draw Straws, “The use of You Draw Straws to resolve
the many pre-mediation meeting or pre-arbitration hearing issues allows
both sides to a dispute attend the mediation or arbitration more fully
committed to the ADR process. This is because using You Draw Straws permits
them to participate in all aspects of resolving their claims and thus
have a greater buy in to the ADR process as a whole.”

GAMA
Launches New Mediation and Arbitration Internet Directories
Conyers, Georgia, July 10, 2000. Today, Global Arbitration Mediation
Association, Inc. (GAMA), a leader in the provision of on-line legal
services, announced that it will be offering two new on-line products
-- the Arbitration.com E-Directory and the Mediation.com E-Directory.
These directories will be open on August 8, 2000 for searches by the
public and will be available on July17, 2000 to alternative dispute
resolution ("ADR") professionals for listing purposes.
The directories include targeted information and advanced search features.
These features provide arbitrators and mediators with a forum for showcasing
their training, experience and specializations, and provide disputants
with the ability to narrow his/her selection to those mediators and
arbitrators whose backgrounds are best suited for resolving their conflict.
Disputants target their ideal mediator or arbitrators by using the advanced
searching fields of extensive database. The database supports searches
using a wide variety of criteria, including the following; ADR experience,
education, credentials, subject matter expertise, associations, geographic
location, video conferencing capability and hourly rate information.
"In general, the use of Mediation and Arbitration as methods of
resolving disputes is on the rise due to the desire of companies and
individuals to resolve conflicts more quickly and with greater economy
than can be offered by our court systems," said T. K. Read, CEO
of GAMA. "The increase in doing business on-line is one of the
key drivers in the increased use of alternative dispute resolution.
Because of the tremendous growth in Internet commerce, people now have
a greater potential for conflicts involving geographically dispersed
customers, vendors and suppliers. When left to the court system, resolution
of these conflicts is problematic and costly. GAMA's Arbitration.com
and Mediation.com E-Directories are designed to provide a much needed
link between disputants and ADR professionals. With these directories,
ADR professionals will have representation where they can be easily
found by disputants. Disputants can use GAMA's search criteria to narrow
their selection to those ADR professionals most capable of rendering
the best decision in their case. It is a win-win situation for everyone
involved in alternative dispute resolution."
One of the first legal companies to realize the potential of Internet,
GAMA was established on the Web in 1995 with the mission of becoming
a leader in the provision of on-line services for the ADR community.
GAMA is renewing its commitment to this mission with its newly redesigned
site and services. For more information on GAMA and the new Arbitration
and Mediation E-Directories, visit the company's Web sites at www.gama.com,
www.arbitration.com, www.mediation.com, on or after July 17, 2000, or
